Tuesday – Shopping Splurge

I have been on a bit of a spending spree this week but to be fair they were all fab prices so I cant complain and I love the stuff I have ordered

Some supplies I was really needing (I know the brushes look cheap and nasty – they were but they are just for glue and gesso so not fussed)

Base of my sisters Christmas Present my sister Laura loves fairies and has been collecting them for many years so now I have got a tad more confident in my skills

I decided this year to make her something rather than buy, the L is paper mache excuse my spelling lol x but I am going to prime the base and then coat it with some texture medium adding in some lace to give it texture, I will then add lots of flowers and foilage and also some wee gemstones, the little fair ornament below is being added either on top of the L or against the back I am not sure yet (I have a vision in my head of how I want it but need to wait till it arrives and work it out from there)

My sisters Bithday is on Hogmanay (new years eve) and almost ever year we stick £20 in an envelope for my sister as it is shocking to know what to buy her when Christmas was the week before but I saw this canvas an I loved it especially the wording stunning, so am also going to bling up this canvas a little just some diamante bits here and there so they catch the light.

Fairy Ornament for my sisters L x

I have my first craft sale at the end of November (infact 2 29th Nov and then 1dec I am sure I must be mad) anyway, was hunting out ways to dress my table to make it look nice,

I have so many items, cards, scrapbook pages, christmas decorations, jewellery, christmas kits, and also my hair clips so trying to fit that all on one table wasnt going to be easy but I wanted to make sure that I had it displayed as nice as possible but cheaply so decided on the pin board which I will decoupage and add some nice colour around the frame, the pins(tacks) I will decorate with either rhinestones, flatback pearls, tiny roses, or paper circles and use glossy accents to give it definition. I again know in my head what I want I just need to pull it off.

The stands for my cord pin boards (they will do the job) x

and finally my tripod for my camera so I can start doing video tutorials and let you see what I am doing.

Also bought a ton of beads and ribbons etc but this rosette trim arrived today, I love it so much and cant wait to use it.

Anyway thats it for today, I am off to do some stamping and water colouring today as I am trying to get ahead with Christmas cards

Till next time keep crafting

Love and hugs Karen xx

finally able to post images

Silly me x I had a pop up blocker on which was preventing the images silly beggar anyway, I have been so experimental this month and some of my projects have been fab my favorite one so far has been a shabby chic plaque I done for a youtube crafter competition

998129_607579452626958_394073240_n (1)

I just loved everything about it, the photo is of my grandparents long long LONG ago,

I will give you a brief clue as to the structure of this plaque, I added a canvas styled material to chipboard, then I attached a lace frilled border with some diamante trim,

I then added the photo and surrounded it with tiny cream pearl trim, I made the wee embellishment below the photo using craft wire and beads and then hot glued it into position, I added pale and pastel coloured flowers to again keep the simple look, then I got some old jigsaw pieces and covered them in a vintage napkin and mod podged over it and attached them,

I made a stickpin using a 2.5 inch pin, and various beads I have also added a wee handmade flower and made my own blingy center using a 10mm flatback pale pink pearl and some diamante trim again with some hotglue, the wee butterfly was just paper but I glued it to give the feeling of movement, and finally for the plaque I added a diamante brad with some chain and a few charms (2 butterflies and an F letter) the woman running the competition was Fiona so this was a wee gift to her also.

The hanger was handmade using craft wire and then covered with cream lace I added a largish rosette flower and again added a wee bling center, then added some pearl trim and lace to hand from the flower.

It just turned out so good, the back was also done too with a wee pocket if it is hanging on a wall it gives you a wee secret hiddy place to stash emergency cash or credit cards (somewhere if you were robbed they wouldnt think to look) x

anyway till later happy crafting

Love and hugs Karen

Christmas Crafting

It is that time of year again, where our wee crafty brains go into overdrive

and we try to think of new ideas to sell our wares, last year I made scented reindeer food it had an amazing cinnamon smell that worked so well and all my customers loved the fact it smelt so strong it was like a Christmas potpourri  for the tree. This year I decided to expand on this by offering a Christmas Eve Survival Kit

So far I have had a great response to this, and think (hope) it is going to fly off, I have 2 craft fayres and my sister and mum are doing the sales for me, My wee kits will be all bagged the only thing they need to check is the colour of the santa key as some of them are pink and cant have a wee lad getting that on xmas eve.

Infact just as I was typing this my door chapped with my postman delivering my last batch of keys 300, yikes guess what I am doing today lol, stringing ribbon on to these wee babies lol anyway here is some of the photos of the goodies in their wee bags

Snowman Soup

  1. Hot Chocolate
  2. Marshamallows
  3. Chocolate drops or buttons
  4. Candy Cane
  5. and a wee rhyme

my wee rhyme will be

When the weather outside is frightful,
Snowman Soup can be delightful!

May it warm your spirit & soul,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

When you feel a chill or “burr”,
Use the candy cane to stir

Add hot water & sip it slow,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

but there are a lot more of them out there I just prefer this one.

Christmas Card from Santa & Mrs Claus which is signed by the jolly man and his wife

Then we have their wee Santa Key (we opted to make this very simple to keep the cost down for families with more than one child but did offer the personalised one at an extra cost if they wished)

Cookie for Santa

Due to having craft fayres at the end of Nov and the beginning of December we had to find an alternative to the carrot as it wouldnt last, And this seemed like a fun thing to have in their wee bags.

For the kids being collected/delivered on the week of Christmas

The bags the goodies will be going into and of course the candy cane for the soup

and finally my reindeer food.

I just wish I could be a fly on the wall seeing the little ones faces when they get their wee bags it just makes them so worthwhile.

Along with all of the above I do personalised Santa Letters

The kids LOVE this and Jingle Elf and Jangle Elf are firm favourites in our house and in the houses of our customers x I post these letters out at the end of November so that it arrives around the 1st December for their advent calender going up and gives them a real sense of magic for the month ahead.

All letters are addresses to each child (even if 3 letters are going to the same house they are posted individually, so they all get their own to open. also they have their envelope stamped with the north pole postage stamp.

Anyway hope that has you all the mood for the holidays and get crafting xx

Lots of Love Karen xx

What I have been up to this month

Well it is that time of year when all us crafty folk are busy busy making gifts and cards for loved ones or for fayres etc.
I too have been extremely busy with this, but I have also been trying new things in my down time, which has been great fun.

Sometimes when your crafting you just lose your creativity for a bit and need inspired and I have been watching some youtube videos to spark my
creativity again and it has worked like a dream. I have been watching a few channels and they have been amazing – is one of my favorites and one of my daily visits she does a little of everything. I have also this past week found she too is fab although my gawd her energy levels are through the roof wish I had a 1/4 of her energy lol.
but for creativity she is fantastic.

anyway here is some of the stuff I have been doing this past month x

Sadly I have no idea what is going on today with my blog it is not allowing me to upload any photos 😦 boo hiss

but I will be back in the next day or two as I have some other fab new xmas projects that I am working on,  but until then

Keep Crafting xx
